Is it an art object or a lucky charm?

On the 28th of September Akvile Magicdust‘s pop-up LUCKY CHARMS will be taking over HUNGRY EYES gallery. Vilnius-based artist and illustrator will be presenting a collection of objects, including a silk scarf, hand-made ceramics, as well as a brand-new zine BESTIARY inspired by pop culture and the mystique of tarot, that are in a constant state of transformation from an art piece to a design object and, perhaps, even to a lucky charm.

While Akvilė’s pastel-coloured imaginary worlds take inspiration from the style of primitivism, they are far from being primitive themselves. Featuring lush cityscapes inhabited by exotic flora and fauna, her dreamy illustrations become a space where daily life can turn extraordinary - and one’s inner child is allowed to once again roam free.

Akvilė – a skateboarder and an artist, working across comics, ceramics, illustration and painting – has previously showcased her work in L.A., San Francisco, Vienna and Barcelona. She is the author of two graphic novels and the winner of ELCAF x WeTransfer Award 2017. She is also actively working on self-publishing and a variety of personal projects – you may encounter several of Akvile’s urban-art pieces in the form of ceramic tiles while wandering around Vilnius’ Old Town.
